For EAD eFiling you do not need any docs check the website below they will send a Biometric & photo appointment at local ASC, cool ........

If I paper file for my renewal, will there be a biometric appointment at an ASC?

It looks to me like they made a mistake on the valid dates for the new EAD. That happened to me last year, I received my new EAD card and it was only good for 1.5 months.
I had to mail them the card and after a couple of calls and some headaches they sent me a new EAD card, this time valid for 2 years.
Good luck!

I believe my situation is a lot similar to man-woman-and-gc except maybe that I am single. This is what I have achieved so far after sticking to Company A for 4.5 years (this one was pretty big in size; so didn't have to worry about any paperwork):
1) I-140 approved in August 2008 (total of 198 days till date i.e. March 5th 2009)
2) I-485 pending since July 2007 (USCIS receipt date of September 29 2007)
3) EAD valid till October 2010
4) H1-B valid till October 2010
5) PD: Feb 2007
However as a preemptive measure against any potential layoff from company A, I have started looking around. I am preparing a checklist of things that I have to inform the other companies (say company B) so that the transition is smooth. The 2 main things I can think of to talk about with any potential employer are:
1) I DEFINITELY want to maintain my H1-B; so they will have to transfer it. I will be pushing this to make sure I have the flexibility to get a dependent at any time
2) They will have to help me MAINTAIN my GC process. For example any minor changes in the position requirements to show that the job is similar or same. Thats one reason I am primarily looking at similar work profiles
I would GREATLY appreciate if someone from this thread can point me to any location or list out the things that I should be extremely careful about or notify to both my previous employer and the future employer to avoid any future pains in my GC process. A few things that I remember are as follows, but please provide more information that may be missed out here:
1) Do I have to ask Company B to apply for anything relating to my GC? I want to make sure that they know and agree to all costs associated with the paperwork? Dont want to end up paying from my pocket as I have heard in a few cases before
2) I believe since my I-140 is approved for more than 180 days or actually my I-485 being filed for more than 180 days, I am allowed to move, correct?
3) Since my I-140 is approved and I have an EAD, can USCIS/Company A cause it to be revoked? OR it doesn't apply to my case?
4) Do I need to ask Company A to maintain anything? Or just keeping good relations with them is enough :)
Thanks a lot to everyone in advance. Please let me know at your earliest convenience as you never know when opportunities come knocking at your door. Its better to be prepared ;)

Hello There,
The division that I work for in my company is being acquired by a company B. Not the entire company that I work for, just the one division.(including set of products)
I have applied for my GC in Jun 07( ironically 06/08/2007), labor & i-140 are approved, waiting for dates to be current.
In this scenario:
a. Do I have to go through the entire GC process again with new company?
b. Do I have to refile 140 ( labor?) I know H1-b will have to be refiled and they are aware of it.
c. is there anything that must be added to the 'closure' document as part of the deal, that will help GC transfer smooth( deal is not closed yet, so such clauses can be included still)
d. Should I stay with my current employer?
Please all your suggestions are welcome.
Best Regards,
Leo07

Guys,
It is always better to carry AP, in case if no AP, then No need to worry if it is a small duration since the GC is approved.
Even one can enter on valid H1 VISA when his/her own GC is approved as long as the duration between the GC approval and the date of Entry in USA is not too big. couple of weeks of duration is also fine.
I have confirmed this back in 2004 with couple of attorneys including Rajiv Khanna (ImmigationPortal.com).

Springflower, I have used Infopass for obtaining AP last year since my father was not well and was hospitalized. I requested his doctor to issue me a certificate about the situation and submitted the same in the appointment. Although it took two weeks eventually seems like it worked.

Yesterday I e-filed my EAD and AP renewal for me and my wife but I think I may have messed up a little.
1) I forgot to save the confirmation receipt( pdf) from me and now I cannot get it anywhere. I did it save it for my wife. I belive I need this along with the supporting documents. How Can I request the confirmation receipt from USCIS
2) I did not find any instructions come up for the list of supporting documents that need to be sent. Should I send the supporting documents (based on what I saw on this site) anyways?
Hi,
You can email to E-Filing.Support@dhs.gov requesting the receipt notice in pdf format. I had the same situation and i emailed the above Id and got receipt notice (pdf) in 48hrs. BTW in the email give your receipt number.
Thanks,
Krishna

Yes, Ofcourse...it has to be valid for atleast 6 months. If it has already expired, I believe you should get a new one before travelling.
Is there any problem if your passport is expired while on H1 visa?
Do we need to get the passport renewed before it is expiring?

AILA Leadership Has Just Posted the Following:
The battle for comprehensive immigration reform is going to be tough as Senate Republicans play politics with the critical immigration issue. The Senate passed its $44.3 billion fiscal 2010 Homeland Security appropriations measure 84-6 last week after three days of debate that differentiated the bill from its House companion on a handful of border security and immigration policies. Unfortunately Senate Republicans used the opportunity to add significant new provisions to the less controversial extender provisions including an extension to the Special Immigrant Nonminister Religious Worker Program and the Conrad Waiver Program for Physicians Serving in Underserved Areas. The Senate also included a provision promoted by AILA member Brent Renison to allow the foreign-born widows, children and parents of citizens who have died to retain their legal status to seek citizenship for two years after the death. Senate Appropriations Bill a Mixed Bag of Immigration Provisions (http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=29510)
Senate Republicans added a provision to their chambers version of the bill (Schumer: Immigration bill to be ready by Labor Day (javascript:simplePopup()
Sen. Schumer the lead Democrat expects to have a bill ready by Labor Day that is more generous to highly skilled immigrant workers than those who are lower skilled and is tough on future waves of illegal immigration."
Even the Homeland Security Department spokesman Matthew Chandler said the Senate endorsement of Vitter's measure prevents real progress on immigration enforcement and is "a reflection of the old administration's strategy: all show, no substance."
In contrast, the Obama administration is trying to implement effective enforcement, he said. "We hope that the smarter strategy will prevail in the end, because the country deserves a system that works," Chandler said. http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE5690F420090710 Reuters: U.S. Senate approves $42.9 billion homeland security bill.

Not normal, but what about I140 approval?. It is part of that and must be there. Did you apply I140 and I485 togther? If yes, it may be missing because of processing backlogs.
I did not apply together. 140 was approved in May 2006. 140 does have the Priority Date but in the 485 Receipt Notice the Priority Date field is blank. I applied for 485 in July 2007.

Today, My H1B transfer got denied and waiting for denial notice. Employer is planning to appeal on denial case. (I am assuming that "Denial could be becasue of client letter was not furnished)
My Layer: Employer->Company A-> Primary Vendor -> Client
My I-94 is valid Nov-09-2009 based on previous employer petition. Previous employer notified USCIS on H1B termination.
On this, What would be best option.
1. File a new H1B case thru current employer (while is waiting for appeal result, as a back up plan)?
2. can I continue work for current employer since my I-94 is valid till 11/09/2009 and filling MTR?
3. Apply for H1B transfer thru primary vendor's sister concern?
